Evinrude Steering Question

I have a 150hp evinrude that has dual steering mechanical cables, the question is why is there two (2), and is there a reason i cannot convert to a one cable system?
 
Do you possibly have a Trophy with Rack and Pinion steering?

Anyway, you can replace the whole helm and cable with a single non feedback rated your your HP from teleflex.

Thanks for answering my question. I have on motor T&R is that the trophy rack and pinion you are stating? So what you are saying I wouldn't have to change anything on motor, just replace the cable and helm with a non feedback?, and I need to ask what exactly is non feedback?
 
Thanks for the reply. Can you also answer the question of can I mount the new teleflex cable directly to the T & R mounts that are currently on my motor that are now a dual cable system, wanting to convert to a one cable system.
