Outboard insulated from aluminum hull boat.. Gonna take it in salt..

My new to me 1985 starcraft has the outboard motor carefully insulated from the boat with some rubber mat material wrapped around the transom between all mounting points. It has been a fresh water boat, now its going into the salt..

I believe the outboard needs continuity to the hull of the boat for the sacrificial anode to work correctly and protect the boat.

The engine of course gets ground thru the battery and now the boat would also be grounded. (this is my first electric start boat).

So do I run a cable between the outboard and the boat to ensure continuity?

Or is there a separate anode that I can connect directly to the boat and leave things alone.. I kind of like the idea of having the boat hull insulated from the ground of the battery..

Thanks..
