Marine Power 454 distributor rotation?

My dock neighbor has Marine Power 454 carbureted engines and is having a some problems with the starboard engine which is reverse rotation. Does the distributor also rotate in the opposite direction as compared to the port standard rotation engine? I know he should only have to remove the cap to verify but the stbd engine also has a bad starter motor and while waiting to replace it he is putting in new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires.

I believe the engines are 2000 or so models.

Thanks,
Erich

Erich, short answer... NO!
Both the Standard LH and Reverse RH rotation engines rotate the distributor and oil pump in the standard direction.

Erich, you may want to make sure that the Stbd engine is actually RH Rotation, and is not a standard LH rotation with an "oposite of engine rotation" transmission.
You can do this by locating #1 cylinder spark plug wire cap tower.
See which cylinder fires next CW from #1.

If #2 follows #1, it will be a Rev RH rotation engine.
If #8 follows #1, it will be a Std LH rotation engine.
