Wooden Boat Repair

I have a 1970 Wooden 42' Pacemaker Sport Fisherman, that's in need of new chinkng. The boat has been out of the water for years, the stringers are solid but the caulking has been falling out from between the planks. With today's technology is there any new method that is faster and more durable than reloading a couple of thousand feet of cotton? It's an old boot that could be saved. I'm trying to look at it as perhaps re floating it again. Thanks for your suggestions.

The old way is still the best, except you don't use white lead and linseed oil nowadays. This viddy gives you a very good notion of how it's done. They show the easy area and not under the bottom laying on your back!
