Fuel for '58 Evinrude Lightwin

My 3 hp Evinrude calls for 16:1 gas to oil mixture using "high grade straight mineral oil of SEA #30 body". Newer engines call for 50:1 using "2-stroke" oil. Can I use the newer mixture? Any opinions? Jeff
 
Your motor does not have any needle bearings.----The plain bearings in your motor call for lots of oil to work properly for a long time, so use 16:1 mix.----------Your motor will run on 50:1 but you might have to repair it much sooner !!
 
I do not believe the 3 HP was ever set up with a pressure tank.----Later models had a provision on the block to install a fuel pump to run off a remote tank.
