Guage replacement

Wanting to change out my futuristic tri-colorerd type guages for guages that are easier to read at a glance while underway like whiteface guages with black needle and numbers. I was wondering if I need to buy matching sending units for the guages. Suppliers seem to tell me that all marine guages are compatable with existing senders already there, and are all the same size. Is this true? thanks

For most single helm installations with domestic engines and analog gauges, the answer is yes, the sender units will interchange...most use the "US Standard" which will show the minimum value with 240 ohms between the sender and ground and go to full scale with 33 ohms between the sender and ground.

If you can't find the info in the gauge maker's data sheets, you can always "measure what you have".
