1964 Century with 64 289 4.7, all new wiring, new distributor cap, condenser, points, coil. The engine runs fine. On the last run of the season last year the on acceleration the engine cut out, complete. then I closed the throttle and the engine continued on.
Now I am preparing the boat for the season. engine starts fine idles fine. at 2000 rpm the engine is reving up and down as if it wants to stop.

Any ideas? Fuel Pump? Carb? 2brl holly, ignition?

I had no problem with the engine the whole season

Dirt. Not likely to be fuel pump, sound like contamination in the carburetor. You might be surprised how much dirt gets into a carb over time. You also may have some water in your fuel, if the separator needs replacing, or you got some condensation in the fuel tank.
