I bought a boat last year it came with a 70's Mercury outboard 50 HP. The boat is wrapped and stored at the moment, so I dont have much more info than time period and HP. When I start it cold it starts/idles/accelerates perfectly. If I shut it down and start it up 10 minutes later it will start/idle just fine, but when I accelerate it will stall out unless I hit the choke (prime?) button on shifting level. I have to hit the button about 5 times until the engine runs properly accelerated. If I bring it back down to an idle, and dont turn the engine off, I can accelerate without choking it. Any help or guidance anyone could provide would be apprecaited.
