Hello
I Have a 2000 carb model Ocean Pro 200 that when idling in my driveway runs about 1400 rpm, I have done a couple of quick start checks and they seem to check out. I just got this engine and haven't had a chance to run in the water yet. Is this normal? Or is there something with the timing causing it to idle this fast?
Any help would be great
Thanks

Put it in the water once and see what happens. You need back pressure in the exaust system for it to idle properly.

Won't be able to get it in the water for a while, do you think running it in a trash can full of water will cause enough back pressure?
Thanks

1,400 RPM is still an usually high idle speed even if the engine is running out of the water. Sometimes this can be caused by something silly, like the throttle cable being out of adjustment.
