What does an "A" in the model code mean?

I have a 90hp Johnson Model J90TLAE. I know what the "J" "T", "L" and "E" mean. But what does the "A" stand for.

what year is the motor? I don't see INTRODUCE identifying the yr....usually the very last letter is a production run indicator

My question was not a trick question. J90TLAE is a legitimate model code. It is shown on the NADA outboard list for 1989. See link below.

The motor is a dark gray color.
