Bearing assy. Seal

Am trying to replace bearing assembly seal at top of driveshaft on a 70hp Johnson outboard. Seal fits extremely tight. Double checked to make sure had correct seal. Ruined first one, had to purchase a second. Must seal be pressed in? I should add that I'm referring to the drive shaft coming out of the lower unit!

Thank you for replying. I thought so! Seloc manual neglects this area. I used 1 by 4 blocks and a bench vise to run seal in flush but it still was not set as deeply as the original. A large flat-bladed screwdriver and ballpeen resulted in seal being perforated! Should I just run the new seal in flush (I have no press) and call that good?

BRP makes a special tool for installing the seal. But in a pinch you can use the right size socket to do it.
