1989 Evinrude

This is my first time on this site,so here goes guys.
I have a 1989 Evinrude Outboard which I have owned and service entirely on my own.
I'm a qualified motor mechanic.
I notice a broken wire connection on the leg of the motor, I've looked into my repair manual but it does not cover that part.
I am assuming that it is only an earth strap but I can't trace the otherr end of it that goes into the bottom of the motor.
Is this wire as I have described it or does it connect to other parts

Oops sorry 120 hp oil injected vro.
And sorry again no photos but the wire I'm taliking about is on the starboard side of the leg.
 
I have a 1989 Evinrude 9.9 hp model E10ELCES.....I mounted motor to my 1988 bass tracker. I'm tiered of going to motor to push start it everytime..Can you tell me what ignition switch I should get so I can mount it to my concole...
 
You will need an ignition switch or some type of push button perhaps.-----------You will need to remove the heavy duty start push button at the motor and install a solenoid switch.-------Mercury / Suzuki / Yamaha and others now have very compact solenoids that can be mounted on those motors.
