Not much of info here, but be sure your battery is top charged and battery voltage does not drop below 10,5 Volts when cranking.

I bought a new battery 1000 mca. I had this problem about 5 years ago and it was the battery. This time not sure what it is. Is there anything I can do to trouble shoot before taking it in.

Only option to hook to a computer (diagnostic) . However check with a volt meter when cranking that voltage AT ENGINE (starter B+) does not drop. Might be a bat ground/B+ connection on engine.

Two simple things can happen that won't allow the engine to start.

1. Cranking speed is too low. (low battery, bad starter)

2. The crank position sensor is unhooked or faulty. No spark.

I believe you have battery power to the EMM because the engine is cranking over.

Of course we can then get into fuel quality (water?) Low system voltage (EMM?)

Start simple.
