Have a 1980 9.9 Johnson motor that has been one of the best motors, normally replace water impeller annually.
took it out in December water was being pumped but up toward the top of exhaust housing in the front water was coming out, their was water coming out of the exhaust also but not as much as should. also after about one minute run time vapor like steam , it over heated. their is a bushing were the water pipe fits in on the top according to the schematics i was wondering if this would cause the leak have not took apart yet but spring Chinook season is just around the corner and would like to get running, if this wont repair will the carburetor off a 9.9 Johnson 1980 work on a 15 hp Evinrude they look the same some will cross 1980 models do what about 1980 to 1991 they look alike in the book numbers are slightly different please advise great full for information grandpa 1
