hi, I have seen a similiar post asking about year and fuel/oil mix

Is it correct to say that this is a 1968 model?

if so, what fuel oil mix should I use and is there a parts/service manual avail?

also, the motor has not been used in over 15 yrs. what should i check prior to start up?

Co-incidence with the model # it is indeed a 68 model indicated by the second number being the 8 for the year,-------Mix at 50:1 fuel / oil.-------------Replace the pump impeller before running it too much.---------Might want to pull the flywheel to inspect for cracks on the coils.---------You will likely find one of 2 things, 2 new coils or 2 cracked ones.
 
A proper puller uses the 3 threaded holes in the flywheel ( 1/4-20 NC )----------Do not use any other method to remove flywheel.
 
I had no issues removing the flywheel with the puller you recommended...thanks again.
Moving on to the impeller replacement: my service manual shows removal procedure for the gearcase. Is that all I need to do to expose the water pump or does the propeller and lower case need to be removed first?
