I HAVE HAD BOAT IN GARAGE FOR

I HAVE HAD BOAT IN GARAGE FOR TWO YEARS HAD IT RUNNING LAST YEAR. TRIED TO START THIS YEAR BUT ALL IT WANTS TO DO IS BACKFIRE. I'VE DRAINED OLD GAS AND CLEANED CARBORATORS BUT STILL BACKFIRES. IT IS GETTING FUEL AND IS FIRING. PLEASE HELP.

YOU MIGHT NEED NEW GASKETS because the reson why an engine backfires is because timings not right or the spark gap might be too small it you should be able to fit a hacksaw blade under neath then i would check your points it might be too smaller gap the timing has to be set just right it sound like points ant set right just use a very thin bit of cardbord between points then turn the engine over it should run smoth without a miss but turn over by hand as your setting points
