How to identify the model without the Evinrude plate

Hello all, Could use a little help. I have what I believe is a 1980's Evinrude 7.5 HP long shaft, however the tag showing the model and serial number is missing. Is there a way to identify the model and the year without this tag? Thanks
 
A picture of the cowling, if graphics are original will identify it.-------Was marketed as a 7.5 from 80 to 83 and then became an 8 HP model.---Many parts were the same year to year.

I will get a picture on the forum later tonight, but the only graphic left on the motor is the rear "7.5" decal. I was told the others were stripped so the motor could be painted in camoflouge - I bought the motor at an auction.
 
Maybe I could get some help IDing this beast030 - Copy.jpg No plate, and the welsh plug has a remanufactured # on it, no help.
