Suzuki df140 won't turn over, help

My motor was running great then I turned it off and tried to start it and no luck. I installed a new starter and still no luck. I can hear something electrical working but nothing happens when I turn the key. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
 
The sound you are hearing might be the starter solenoid energizing. But the internal contacts are bad.
Try jumper cables directly from the pos. battery terminal to the wire lug on starter.
If that works, there is no current getting to the starter the normal way. Check connections and solenoid.
 
Thanks for the help. Turns out my starter was crap, replaced it and back on the water now. Ordered my starter from
DBElectrical and was happy with the service and shipping, hope that helps out.
