Sticking Throttle controlls

On my 1997 Mercury 225 saltwater Mako I am having a problem with throttle ande gear shifting
They seem to be slow and sticking. How do I lubricate or do I have to replace?
 
replacement is the best approach. If the boat has seem frequent use, they are likely worn, internally

disconnect both at the engine and work the controls. make sure the levers on the engine side move freely. If everything is free, it is likely internal wear.
