Hello everyone,
I'm researching a home build of a Riviera Runaround (5.8m) It will need an inboard engine which I will need to source. I've never built a boat before but I've battled on with plenty of car engines over the years. I'd like some pointers as to an appropriate engine to look for. These boats are generally capable of 35 to 50 Mph on the water.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or general pointers that anyone can give me.

Ayuh,.... Ya can't go wrong buildin' a SBC to the spec's of yer choice....

They range for 200hp or so, to the Moon, dependin' on yer budget...

Parts are available 'bout Anywhere as well...

2X on the Chevy SB's.

They are used pretty much worldwide though their popularity varies with region. Check with your car chaps to see what is around locally.

Building the engine - same assembly methods. Biggest thing to remember is the load on the engine is there ALL the time with a boat. Like loading the car and added a trailer to it and them trying to send it up a never ending hill @ 120 kph.
