I have two velvet drive 1.91:1 transmissions (AS7-71C) that I am rebuilding. I installed new seals, gaskets, & clutches. Everything is clean and spins freely right up until I do the final tightening of the four bolts on the forward-reverse adapter assembly. It seems like when the clutches and springs are compressed everything locks up.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? The pump is aligned and not binding up. Should I be able to spin it by hand on the bench?
