Today I got my hands on an used Evinrude 5hp 2-stroke outboard.
As I don't know much about the model and neither does the previous owner I thought I use the S/N of the motor and google it a bit.
But when I entered the S/N, which is E5BFCRM to google I didn't find anything and I didn't get any replies to my search on marineengine.com manual section as well.
I managed to find out that E marks Evinrude, it's 5hp, BF stands for Belgium Derated and it's made in year 1984. Yet not a single parts searching engine or catalogue finds match for this number and when searching by making year I didn't get any results for 5hp either. Only 4 and 6hp. And when I removed the plastic engine cover, I noticed that the block itself has "6hp" written on it.
So does anybody know how to find parts for this engine or is there any other number I should use?
