Temp Guage not working on 1989 Evinrude VRO 90 hp

The temperature guage does not work. Where is the sensor located at on the motor? Can I jump it and find out where the problem is?
 
Avoid gauge problems by switching to Ocean Gauges.com There are way too many problems dealing with older gauges and how accurate they are. I bought the Dual Gauge from OG and it looks phenomenal, even in direct sunlight!
