Hi All. Have heads back from skimming and minor repairs. about to start putting back together.
Can anyone tell me if I should coat the bolts with something before putting them in to avoid rusting and seizure, which caused the last ones to break on tear down which was a real pain. Was thinking of Copperslip or normal grease......thanks in advance for the great advice.

Make sure you don't have anything on the ends of the bolts...the very ends. Otherwise you might end up hydrolocking them, and they won't tighten the heads on properly.

Also, cleaning the threads with a die really helps. If you don't have the right die, then soak them in some simple green for a while, rinse/dry well, then coat lightly with grease. Bill is right, grease on the bottom is bad, so don't coat the bottom of the bolt and use a very light coating so it doesn't run down the bolt as you tighten it. When I'm feeling up to it, I soak the bolts, coat them with grease, then wipe the bottoms and the last few threads.
