difficut to start 50 hp 1995 johnson

I have a 1995 50 hp johnson. It is on a 20' pontoon boat. When I first try to start it fires and quits. I push in the key and give a little throttle and it fires and quits.It takes several attempts and it finally stays running. It runs fine at all speeds and starts fine the rest of the day. I have over 120 compression on both and good spark, new plugs, have cleaned the carbs, replaced fuel bulb. have a built in tank with vro. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
I think you need to give it more throttle for the first start of the day.-----Experiment with how much throttle to give your motor for cold start.-------Do not let it rev wildly in nuetral once it starts.
 
I guess its just me . I will try again in a day or so . Its 104 here so I think I will stay inside.One thing, I bought the boat and it had almost a full tank of fuel. don't know how old it is. I think I will make that lawnmower gas and get fresh and see if there is a difference.
