Hi.. i am new to the forum and very new to owning a boat. i have a 1967 65 hp evinrude that will not start.. i had it going for 40 seconds and it quit.. i have checked the spark plugs with a spark plug tester on all 4 spark plugs and no spark.. any suggestions on what i can do next..thank you

Hi...when i say i'm new i am really new where would the points be located and when you say is the distributor turning what am i looking for...sorry for my ignorance of lack of knowledge.. thanks for the quick reply

Look on U-TUBE ----there are plenty of outboard tutorials there for you to learn how to go about checking your motor.

Thanks i did before joining this forum no one shows where the points are located...its a four cylinder electric start..thanks i still need help

The points are under the distributor cap and NOT the flywheel.-----------The distributor cap is the round black thingy at the back of the motor.

I will look at both but i will start with the black thingy tomorrowand i will post back and let you's know..thanks for the quick responce..please dont close thread.

Here we go again -----For the last 40 years or more it has not been uncommon for motors to be the " wrong year "------Motors are often sold and labelled as being 10 years newer than what they are.---Post the model # found on the transom bracket.---------Posting pictures of motors should almost be mandatory on this site and others.

It can only be a 1968 model !!--------Hold on to something solid when you find out the price of that black box on the back of the motor.
