Morning
I have 195 elite wellcraft It had a 305 in it mercruiser I need to replace the engine I have a 350 engine setting at home everything seems to line up and should be able to transfer from 305 to 350 I know i need to replace seals starter and some of those things to marine grade is there anything else i need to be aware of or is this not possible
 
Is it safe to assume that this 5.7L engine is an automotive engine?
If so, you will have several issues to deal with:

  • Camshaft profile re; water reversion
  • Eventual head gasket issues if you plan to raw water cool this engine

I could care less about the casting core plugs, and the head gaskets, if you are going to set this up with a close cooling system.
If you set this up for an open system, you'll want to give this some thought.

Ayuh,.... The history, 'n origin of the 350 is important to know, before good solid answers can be givin'....

The Best, easiest swaps start out as GM pickup motors...
