85 Hp Evinrude 1978 - Should I repair it at all?

I bought a boat with a non working motor. It's a 1978 Evinrude 85 Hp. The problem is unknown. All I know is the seller said it won't start anymore after sitting for the winter.

It will cost me $75 to have a repair person come do a diagnostic which will be applied to the repair cost if I decide to do it.

Here's my question : What is this motor worth in working order?

If I know what it's worth I'll know whether the repair is worth doing.

Post some pictures of it ----------------If it is a " salt water machine " it likely is not worth fixing.--------------If it was stored in a garage / barn for 20 years it might be a very good motor.-----------It also depends on what is wrong and if there are major problems it depends on what local help you can get at reasonable cost.

Winter in TX? You really put them away in the "winter"?
Seriously, there is a big refurb place in TX selling on ebay frequently.
3 and 4 cylinders (mid 70's to 80's) seem to go for around $1500-$3000 depending on condition, etc.
Price a new 75 or 90HP Etec, and hold on to your wallet.
