1995 Evinrude 48hp - sometimes stalls at idle

I have a 1985 Evinrude 48hp that has been having some stalling problems. The old fuel line didn't look good so I replaced with brand new Tempo line with Evinrude connectors. I can pump the bulb till it gets hard and the motor runs fine. After stalling you check the bulb and it is soft. I removed the connector on the fuel side and put the hose directly into the tank and still had stalling problems. Air is obviously getting into the line. I have not replaced the clamp before the bulb to see if that is the culprit.

Motor runs fine at anything faster than idle speeds.

Any ideas or suggestions for me?

Thanks

For one thing the bulb does not need to stay hard on a running motor.---One or two squeezes and it should be hard again.---That is first check to do.

Your hand can develop more pressure than the pump on the motor.-------Therefor when you squeeze the bulb with the motor running you are pumping a bit more fuel into the carburetors untill the floats really close up the the float valves.
