I am rebuilding a 1998 Godfrey Hurricane and the wiring has been "played" with so I am completely reworking to original. Well trying to anyway. The white with black stripe wire coming out of the OMC control is wired to the purple ignition circuit of the tachometer and the other gauges. The OMC Wiring Color Codes function for the white with black stripe wire is listed as "Temp/Sensor (Alarm Circuit) to Power Pack". This appears to be a temp sensor circuit so why would it be wired to the gauges purple ignition circuit? Also, the way it is put together looks like it is original.

It should be no 'white/black' wire in the cable to the remote.
The only black/white OMC lead is the one for quick-start on engines with a dual temp switch at the cyl head.
It might be 'original', but not from OMC/BPR, but more likely from the boat manufacturer who used whatever he had. Open the remote and check what it is connected to inside.
