94 Johnson 8hp outboard leaking oil

My outboard seems to leak oil every time it rains. I think there is a leak somewhere inside the engine compartment. The oil seems to leak from the choke knob, or at least it seems to come out of the engine compartment from there. I usually leave the engine in the full tilt position when I'm not using it. I looked inside and did not see anything remarkable.

Any ideas where I can look? Is this common? The engine runs fine.
 
I am not sure what engine compartment you're referring to. I am suspecting that your motor's unburnt oil or the fume being liquidized by the rain water and now comes out running down the lower part of the motor due to gravity. As long as the oil is not milky in color, your motor should be ok.
