I have a 1958 Gray 109 in a 1960 23 foot Lyman Sleeper The manual states the oil capacity as approximately 9 quarts. However, when I extracted the oil out, including pumping any oil out of the transmission housing, it only took about 5 3/4 quarts to fill the crankcase to the full level of the dipstick.
Should I be concerned that there is not enough oil in the engine, or is everything fine since the reading on the dipstick is fine?
