Motor Year ?

I have a honda bf9.9a 4 stroke outboard w/ a serial # BABS1600622. I cant find a motor serial # reference guide that uses this configuration that would tell me the year. Has anyone had this problem and could anyone help w/ my issue. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
 
thanks mike not sure where the y comes into play at, i dont see that on any of my tags, but then again it seems hondas #s r allittle confusing, thanks again
 
You will not see the AY on the engine. You will see the A....BF9.9A but the Y indicates the year 2000.

All of the manufacturers have their "special' coding.
