1980 johnson 25hp water pump

replacing my water pump with kit #0395270, but on the schematic on this site shows a seal between the cup and housing that my kit does not have or show in the picture before you add it to your cart. is the seal not needed inbetween the cup and housing i have?
 
There is/should be a rubber seal or gasket in the housing of the waterpump, if not then sealing material does the job.
 
it shows one for the factory pump, the kit i got mentioned above does not have one. there are small fins on the new housing where the seal fits in the old one?????
