2002 bf40 running rough

I was heading back in last week after a day of crabbing when I was leaving I got up on plane and everything was fine. Ran wot for about 2 mins then it died down and wouldn't go over 4000 rpm and running rough. While I was running I hit it with a shot of carb cleaner, it would pick right back up for a second then die right back down. The fuel was treated with seafoam and the carbs where rebuilt over the winter by a real good shop. The motor has been running great til then. Also have a Honda fuel/water separator. Please help.

Sounds like it's being fuel starved, check your tanks for ventilation.
also make sure the fuel bulb has good pressure, if it's flat or will not pump hard
you may have a leak in the hose somewhere.

Man! It's BF 40 day! Three in a row!

Hi Wang,

Couldn't argue at all with what dark_star has to say. That's the place to start looking for sure.

I also like to bypass fuel/water separators when I get a problem like this because I've seen so many that were causing issues. They are a headache on a lot of the out drive boats I've been working on.

But, if that all checks out then you just may be looking at a fuel pump problem.

Good luck.
