150 4 stroke occasional power issues

I have a 2006 150 4 stroke. a few times last summer i was runnung between 5000 and 6000 rpm's when I lost power and the motoe seemed to rev. I wondered if it is throwing out of gear? Usually I can back of the throttle put it in neutral an d them back into drive. At lower rpm, this does not happen. any suggestions or ideas are appreciated
 
One of several things happening.--------Motor mounted too high on the boat.------------Motor trimmed up ( out ) too high.------Or most likely the propeller hub is slipping. You can mark the hub and the outer portion and see if the marks have moved when motor revs up.
