Gelcoat repair

I have an old hydra sport bass boat. Boat is in good condition. Has been well cared for but I have lots of areas where there are lots of rocks and sand bars. I have gouged holes in the gelcoat and even in places to the glass. I have to run it up on a sandy bottom to load it and it is sanded the bottom of the gelcoat. Anyone have a solution as to how to apply the repair or totally gelcoat the boatr.

if the hull is "wet" you will have to dry it out first. once dry, i'd seal up the goughes with some epoxy (west system or similar). then, if the boat sits in the water, I'd apply a barrier coat and then paint it.

If it sits on a lift or trailer, the filler should be adequate..if you want it cosmetically decent, spray the lower half of the hull.

If you keep using it that way, expect to repeat the refinish operation every year or two.
