When winterizing my 96 Searay

When winterizing my 96 Searay with 7.4L bravo 1 I noticed the knock sensor had been disconnected ( probably from last winter-not me). I have been running this all summer without it. Does anyone know what damage if any I may have caused. Does this go into a maximum retard condition or does it just not work and allow full advance?
Thanks

"It acts like a microphone and if the ECM sees no input at all, there is a default for that. If you run it really hard and have detonation, without the KS, you can damage the motor. High temperatures and old gas are a good way to have detonation. If the motor box temperature wasn't excessive, the gas was fresh all season and you didn't run it like a 17 year old at the drag strip, you should be OK.

You will only go into max retard if the ECM sees input and has already been backing the timing off. IIRC, you should be able to see normal total advance or close to it.

Did you have any run-on issues?"
