1991 Yamaha Malto Horsepower?

I recently purchased a Yamaha Malta and was told that it was a 6HP. However, searching the internet, I am unable to find any information on a "Malta 6HP". Everything I have found on the net seems to relate to a Malta 3HP.

The serial number on my motor is 6L5 S 022582 and there is a "C" in the bottom right hand corner of the plate which I understand indicates that it was manufactured in 1991.

Can anyone tell me how I can determine the actual horsepower of this motor?

Thanks for the quick reply

I was able to get the Yamaha Outboards service desk phone number: 866 894-1626 (thought others might need this number sometime), and the service rep looked up my serial number and told me that it was a 3HP. He said that the prefix 6L5 indicated a 3HP motor and that the prefix for a 6HP would be 6M8.

Looks like the seller and I are due for a heart to heart conversation in the immediate future. :)
