head gasket replacement

i resurfaced the head using plate glass and 400 grit wet/dry sand paper seem to work good but im not sure what i should do for the mating surface on the power head block. moter is a yamaha txrt 200hp im sure it needs to be brushed or sanded or somthing . i just want it to get done right . thanks

Don't use anything power driven. Very carefully use a broad blade scraper with some gasket remover from your local napa store. Wipe down with degreaser and your 400 grit to make absolutely clean. No nicks, scrapes, goobers or oil. Chase the threads. Yamaha like oil on the threads, I like Perfect Seal.
