1995 115 Yamaha 2 stroke voltage regulator prob

The regulator puts out too much voltage - usually reads 12.5 to 14.5 reading 15.6 to 16.5 checked with volt meter - anything in the regulator I can check and/or adjust?
 
Bumperfood - thanks for the info. checked all grounds and batt connections and ran the diagnostics (different color on the wires) and the rectifier/regulator checked out fine. Put it back on, started it up and initially the voltage was still high. After it idled for about ten minutes, it settled down to the normal/average range. Thanks again - hope it continues "average"
