What size anchor?

Hi, i have just bought a 3.9mtr. fiberglass runabout & need to buy an anchor for it.Can anyone tell me how heavy an anchor i will require please?

depends upon the style you need which is driven by the bottom type you'll be anchoring. most mfg's have charts showing their recommendations - both w/ & w/o chain. see <www.danforthanchors.com> for an example. some vendors have the info, too.

Thank's for your help makomark i spoke to my local marine dealer & he said i'd be ok with with an anchor about 8lb. so i bought it & it works well.Thanks again.
