Leaking carb help???

Hi everyone!! I am new to the forum and need some help with my friends 2001 bf50.
When he tried to start it a couple weeks ago it backfired and caught fire luckily he had the hose right there and put it out without to much damage. Further inspection shows that when you pump the primer bulb gas comes pouring out of a brass plug on the side of the carb. It is a good size plug maybe 3/8 in.
Can this be removed and replace an oring or something???
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

That is a vent and do not plug it. The fuel is overflowing because you have a stuck float valve. You will need to take the carbs off and clean them.

Just thought....you might be able to tap on the carburator bowl with the handle of a screwdriver and possibly free the stuck float. You might get lucky.

Also, use a good fuel treatment like PRI-G, Sea Foam, or Stabil Marine (not just the Stabil stabilizer) and that will help with this kind of thing in the future.

We not using your engine for as little as a couple of weeks, run the motor out of fuel and drain the carburators.
