2006 Yamaha 300 hpdi gear

hey i have a problem with my engine/gear just bought this. when i started the engine it was in reverse on the engine and neutral on the handle.tried to push it in forward but then it was in neutral on the engine . can anybody help ?
 
Chances are the water pump was replaced and the splined shift rod is off a tooth. Drop the lower down, shifter in neutral, shift the lower into neutral and reinstall.

How do i now when it is in exact Position ?`
You mean to lover the gear house and turn the shaft ?? any pictures

I will do this by myself,, i do work on marine engines but not this small ones ;)
i think u mean that i put the handle in neutral, put down the lower and turn the shifter/ the stick in neutral and replace :)
is that what u mean?
 
That is exactly what you need to do. If you have some one help you and you do not turn the input shaft it will slide right back in. Just drop it far enough to access the shift rod to set neutral

Then it will bee first test drive with this boat.. cant wait to see how she runs :D
