Nope! Still somewhere between 1998 and 2003. Take a picture of the top carburator and we might be able to narrow it down to within a couple years...they made a slight change during this period.

how come when you look for your manual on this site it has you choose HP and then a screen comes up with a series of letters-numbers that you choose from to match a specific year model manual?

The letter/number combination is the frame serial number. It is different than the one on the block.

You might also look for a frame serial number plate on the top of the swivel case. Item #7 http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Honda/Outboard Engine/2000/BF50AY LRTA VIN%23 BAZS-3200001 TO BAZS-3209999/SWIVEL CASE/parts.html
There were a couple of years when they put the serial number plate there. It was always hard to find and read.

thats where it says BF50A and xxHP at 6000 rpm's
and another something about rpm's. it is hard to read!
