Modifying a 1998 Yamaha 25 HP, 2 stroke?

What could I do to a 1998 Yamaha 25 HP, 2 stroke, 2 cylinders, to add/gain HP and torque? I’m not that interested in top end, but I’m not against it either. I’ am a duck hunter and my objective of modifying this motor is to carry my hunting load a little better. Suggestions?

You could do a lot of things, most of which would cost money and reduce motor life. The simplest and easiest would be to go down a couple inches in prop pitch. Lower pitch props usually have more diameter and bigger blades which would help also. If you have already done that then go smaller yet. Obviously you will lose some top end but maybe not if your motor can get up in rpm to where it can make it's horsepower.

The prop change is the only economical choice...if that doesn't get you where you want, try a larger engine. If your hull won't take more than a 25, then its time to start searching the want-ads.
