Heating element for 02 sensor

I have a yamaha SX150TXRY 2 stroke engine that I was told that the heating element for the 02 sensor stays on. The only way to turn it off is to switch the battery selector off then on. Has anyone had this problem and if yes how was it fixed?

Thanks,
John

The mechanic who was working on the engine noticed it. He was cleaning the O2 sensor and when he grabbed the heating ellement it was hot. He grabbed the heating element on the other engine (twin SX150TX) it was cold. That was how it was found. Does that sound plausable? I appreciate your help.

John
