Hello everyone. I found this site while looking for information. Great site i might add.
Thinking about buying this motor.

The engine is a 225 HP 3.0 Liter Offshore Black Max Mercury outboard with a 25" standard rotation drive shaft. The engine is a 1994 model year but has many upgrades. A remanufactured 1998 power head was installed on July 1, 2010 by a professional Mercury dealer. The block was honed and refurbished with genuine Mercury pistons, rings, rods, and all new bearings. At the same time, all oil lines and check valves were replaced along with a brand new oil pump and driving gears. A new drive shaft was installed along with a complete tear down, rebuild and synch of all carburetors. Both thermostats and gaskets were replaced along with the water pump and poppet valve. Other items that were replaced new, were the spark plugs, alternator belt, secondary fuel filter, entire trim/tilt pump system with new harness and ice cube relay upgrade, high performance Mercury gear lube, all zincs, and new propeller with Flow Torque II hub kit. The entire wire harness was examined and any issues were rewired and soldered. Included is a complete factory service and parts manual, along with all the documentation of upgrades. This Mercury is a powerful motor and is exceptionally clean. This engine will provide many years of performance and reliability if properly maintained. Engine is still on my boat in the water and can be driven for the next few weeks. Included are the oil tank and lines, TFT Extreme heavy duty shift cables, 15" X 17" pitch aluminum prop, key switch and harness with alarms.

It will also include a hydraulic steering cylinder and controls. So what do you guys think its worth ball park. Looks very clean. any feedback would be appreciated.

Dave

Where are you located? Is there any warranty from the merc. dealer? You'll never get out of it what the dealer charged for the work...somewhere below that expense or about half of new is what I would consider paying.

Buy it if he installs it on your boat for nothing or a few hundred bucks.

Too much!! I bought a 97 for 2200$ With less than 200 hrs.My opinion!!
If they are gonna install and guarantee then it's worth the extra.
Do a compression/spark test.
Profile/location?
If it's been in salt it's gonna be harder to work on.

let me know where i can get one for that money and I'll buy 2.
