Shaft Length Change

My buddy bought an after market extension kit to change from a 20" to a 25" shaft on a 2005 250 yam 4 stroke. The problem is, the hole where the shaft goes thru the mid section is to small for the shaft extension to pass thru. Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this, please, thanks.
 
Two ways. The quickest, most common, and least desirable option in my opinion is to use a hole saw or similar tool to expand the hole . Keep in mind you are in the region of the oil pan when you do this. You can reduce the diameter of the extension a few thou to help also.
The best option is to have a 25" shaft installed into your gearcase.
