I wanted to pass on some info I learned the last few weeks and see what others had to say:

Background I have twin 2002 Honda 225hp on a 28 ft prokat Catamaran.
recently I noticed steering getting air in lines, not knowing much I started researching.

I found out that I had seastar hc5347 for last 10 yrs, they are suitable for 115hp to 130hp NOT 225hp..
Now they have worked find for last 10 yrs all of a sudden they start leaking and air in lines motors become
off set... First thing we do is order some new bleeder valves with new orings... NOPE that didn't fix it few trips later I see fluid in well again. So now I find out a new ram cost betweek $500 and $600 and find next step would be a seal kit dang they want any where from $117 to $160 after researching I find west marine free shipping 117.
Replaced seals today and had friend come over bring a power purger jr
http://www.jamestowndistributors.co...dwords!6456&keyword=product_ad_11092&type=pla. Amazing easy way to bleed system.
Looks like problem fixed will see next few weeks things I learned:
1.Honda 225 hp counter rotating are matched with hc 5343 http://www.teleflexmarine.com/products/hydraullic-new/outboard-new/seastar-catamaran/
2. When I recieved seal kit had same plactic end caps with new orings seems like I could of just got new orings from oring company I use and save a $100 .... On a good note came with a spanner wrench I didn't have one till now.

3.Power purge jr's are awesome but come with a awesome price

4. I know what started this whole thing was I hit some shallow water and while getting unstuck guys pushed on motor and blew seals I think..

5. rods and nuts were corrioded so was sort of glad I took apart , used pb blaster once again to the rescue.. I have really got accustom to my steering operation. I am typing this hoping other will have a head start on issues when they arrive...

Very nice tutorial Capt.Jamie! Thanks for the info. Although, I gotta tell you that if your "inadequate" Seastar steering system only lasted 10 years, it sure beats the bilge water outta the 6 years I got out of my little Kia 2006 car! Pump, rack and pinion, $400 all reman, and I get to do the work myself.:( So you didn't do to bad at all.:)
